PHOENIX – A touch of Las Vegas – without the gambling – is coming to the Valley.

Casino giant Caesars Entertainment Corporation announced plans Monday to open its first U.S. non-gaming hotel, Caesars Republic, in Scottsdale.

“We have spent the last year and a half developing a brand which is a lifestyle hotel experience with a Las Vegas hint so that we can really express our 80 years of history of entertainment and creating experiences,” Marco Roca, president of global development for Caesars Entertainment, told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Monday.

The 11-story, 266-room glass structure will go up on Goldwater Boulevard, just north of the Scottsdale Fashion Square, and feature a seventh-floor rooftop bar and pool with views of Camelback Mountain as well as a 7,000-square-foot ballroom.

“We can have a lot of the feel that we create in our integrated resorts, minus the gaming, with the shopping, the entertainment, the fine dining, celebrity chefs, and really a localized experience,” Roca said.

The hotel is scheduled to open in 2021, with construction starting in the second half of this year.

Caesars Entertainment has more than 50 properties on four continents but is best known for its Las Vegas casinos — including Caesars Palace — under the Caesars, Harrah’s and Horseshoe brands.

The company already has a presence in Arizona with Harrah’s Ak-Chin Hotel and Casino in Maricopa.

“We’re very excited to be in Scottsdale because it really is the right place for us,” Roca said. “It’s trendsetting with a social experience and 4.5 million visitors.”
