No serious injuries reported after small plane lands on its roof in north Phoenix

PHOENIX – A small plane wound up on its roof after an emergency landing in north Phoenix on Wednesday morning, but the occupants emerged without serious injuries, authorities said.

Crews were dispatched to a desert area near 42nd Street and Carefree Highway near Cave Creek around 10:45 a.m. and found the aircraft with its wheels facing up, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

The two people on board were able to exit the plane on their own. They were evaluated at the scene and taken to a hospital as a precaution.

The occupants were a flight instructor and a student, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

The cause of the crash landing is under investigation.

A day earlier, two people were hospitalized after a small plane crashed into a residence in northwestern Arizona.
