Arizona skydiving employee dies after walking off plane into propeller

A skydiving company employee died Saturday after being struck by an aircraft propeller at a facility northwest of Tucson, police said.

Eduardo Hernandez, 40, of Tucson, was involved in the accident at SkyDive Marana the Marana Police Department said in a statement.

Officers responded to a report of an injured person at the facility on Saturday and learned that Hernandez, an employee, had been involved in an accident involving a propeller.

While Marana police and fire district crews provided emergency medical care, Hernandez died at the scene.

Preliminary data from the Federal Aviation Administration shows that the accident happened around 1:30 p.m. A Cessna 208 landed and was parked at the airport ramp. An employee exited the plane and walked into the active propeller.

The early investigation found no signs of foul play.
