PHOENIX — Authorities canceled a Silver Alert for a 74-year-old Tempe man who left his home to check the mail and never returned, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.

The Silver Alert was issued in Tempe on Saturday for Jose Gabriel-Bueno Baez, who suffers from a medical condition that makes him nonverbal and easily confused.

The man was found and is now safe with family, authorities said.

DPS said he left his house near Baseline and Rural roads around 11 a.m. on Saturday to check the mail and never returned.

Authorities described him as a 5-foot-9 and 160-pound Latino man with gray hair and hazel eyes. He has worked for Valley Metro Bus for over three decades, according to DPS.
