Woman accused of shooting her father to death in west Phoenix

PHOENIX – A woman was arrested Thursday for allegedly shooting her father to death in west Phoenix, authorities said.

Officers responded to a call about shots fired in the area of 101st and Oregon avenues, near 99th Avenue and Camelback Road, around 11:50 a.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

They found a man who had been shot at least once named Reginald Anderson. The 61-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman who was uninjured was also at the crime scene when officers arrived.

Police used witness interviews and other evidence to identify the shooting suspect as 33-year-old Reilan Anderson, who was no longer at the scene.

Homicide detectives tracked the suspect to the town of Maricopa and took her into custody.

“Reilan was interviewed regarding the incident and denied her involvement,” Sgt. Robert Scherer said in a media advisory.

Despite her denial, police found probable cause to book her into jail on suspicion of first-degree murder for her father’s death and aggravated assault on the uninjured woman.

The investigation is ongoing, but no other suspects are at-large, police said.
