Arizona man sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually exploiting children

Luis Alberto Ortiz interacted with material showing a minor younger than 15 being sexually exploited in 2023 and 2025, prosecutors said.

A man who pleaded guilty to child sex crimes in two separate cases has been sentenced to 15 years in prison, according to the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.

In one case, 38-year-old Luis Alberto Ortiz pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a minor and two counts of attempt to commit sexual exploitation of a minor, prosecutors said. This case is related to actions he took on or around Aug. 3, 2025.

Ortiz also pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a minor stemming from actions he took on or around Sept. 20, 2023.

In both cases, Ortiz interacted with material showing a minor younger than 15 being sexually exploited.

After he is released from prison, he will be under lifetime supervised probation.

He will also have to register as a sex offender for life and submit to DNA testing.
