Sec. Hobbs affirms election confidence as some continue to balk at results

PHOENIX — After 3.42 million ballots cast, representing 80% voter turnout, Arizona certified November’s election results on Monday, but some skeptics continue to try to challenge results.

Four of five lawsuits over Arizona’s general election, including one from President Donald Trump’s campaign, have failed to proceed, but a lawsuit from the Arizona Republican Party is still in the works.

“Like all of the claims that we have seen, there’s no evidence to back them up,” Secretary of State Katie Hobbs told KTAR News 92.3 FM. “They’re grasping at straws and trying to do some sort of fishing expedition.”

Hobbs says the people refusing to accept the election results are only undermining trust in the system.

Gov. Doug Ducey and Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich, both Republicans, signed off on the Nov. 3 election at the state’s official canvass.

“I think if there were actual real concerns about the integrity of this election, then there would have been some consternation on their part to show up and play their official role,” Hobbs said.

Recorders throughout Arizona’s 15 counties have found this general election featured record numbers of tabulation monitors from all parties.

“What the lawsuits and court filings and hearings are doing is continuing to bolster all of those conspiracy theories” of malfeasance,” Hobbs said, adding no legal actions have evidence of voter fraud.
