Police expand search for missing Avondale woman to Globe, believe she is ‘seriously injured’

PHOENIX — The search for missing Avondale woman Isabella Comas has been expanded east of the Valley to Globe, authorities announced.

According to a Thursday night update from the Avondale Police Department, authorities believe Comas may be in Globe and are partnering with Gila County Search and Rescue to locate the 21-year-old.

Avondale police added that they believe Comas is “seriously injured.” Authorities said that 39-year-old Tommy Rodriguez, a romantic partner of Comas, is still a person of interest in her disappearance and remains in custody on charges related to the theft of Comas’ car.

Comas was last seen by a friend near Van Buren Street and Avondale Boulevard around 3 p.m. on Jan. 11.

Authorities issued a Turquoise Alert for Comas on Jan. 13.

Police previously said Comas was on her way to visit her boyfriend in the area of 91st Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix when she was last seen.

A friend notified police after Comas didn’t arrive to pick her up from work, as usual. Comas also did not show up for work on Jan. 12 and could not be reached by phone, police added.

After tracking Comas’ cellphone, police located it on Jan. 12 at a recycling center in Phoenix. Her car was located on the night of Jan. 13 near 67th Avenue and Indian School Road.

Comas is described as 5 feet, 3 inches tall and 110 pounds. She is Hispanic and has pink hair and brown eyes.

Comas was last seen wearing a white shirt with a black logo on the front, blue pants with a white line going down the side and possibly sandals.

Turquoise Alerts are issued when a missing person is under the age of 65, local law enforcement has exhausted all available resources, the person is believed to be in danger or in the company of someone potentially dangerous and the circumstances surrounding the disappearance are unexplained or suspicious.
