Scottsdale Fashion Square to give Palm Court gathering space a facelift

PHOENIX — One of the Valley’s most popular shopping destinations will see a central location get a facelift next year.

Macerich, the owner and operator of Scottsdale Fashion Square, announced last week that Palm Court, the central gathering space and food court at the mall, will go through an “enhancement project” starting in January.

In a press release, Macerich said the goal of this project is to give shoppers a comfortable place in the mall to relax and “engage with community programming,” such as fashion shows or other community events.

“This project fully addresses all of those needs while further elevating the ambience within the Valley’s favorite shopping destinations,” Macerich Senior Vice President of Leasing Kim Choukalas said.

Details of Palm Court renovation at Scottsdale Fashion Square

The company has a long list of enhancements planned for Palm Court, including:

• A new entryway
• Improved storefront visibility
• New landscaping
• New seating areas
• Updated flooring and lighting
• Expanded restrooms
• A new three-sided digital display.

Edo Japanese Grill will also be opening a location inside Palm Court as part of the renovation, according to Macerich. The restaurant offers teppanyaki-style meals, including poke bowls and bento boxes.

The project is expected to be completed in time for the 2026 holiday season and should not impact access to stores and restaurants inside the mall, Macerich said.

Previous renovations at Scottsdale Fashion Square

This is the latest portion of Scottsdale Fashion Square to see renovations. The luxury wing, which is anchored by Neimann Marcus, completed its facelift in 2018.

In 2022, the south wing of the mall was renovated and space was added for five new restaurants:

• Élephante,which is now open. 
• Catch, which is now open.
• Society Swan, which is scheduled to open in October.
• Teleferic Barcelona, which is scheduled to open this winter.
• Din Tai Fung, which is scheduled to open next year.

Macerich also operates the Arrowhead Towne Center in Glendale, Chandler Fashion Center and Kierland Commons in Scottsdale.
