PHOENIX — Valley residents have a lot to be grateful for on Thanksgiving and, according to a personal finance website, that includes where you spend the holiday.

WalletHub ranked Scottsdale and Gilbert in the top 10 of the best places to go for Thanksgiving among the 100 largest U.S. cities.

Scottsdale was ranked No. 2 behind St. Paul, Minnesota, and Gilbert came in at No. 7.

Chandler (No. 11) and Mesa (No. 13) were also good Arizona choices to spend the holiday, according to the ranking.

The ranking measured five key metrics: Thanksgiving celebrations and traditions; affordability; safety and accessibility; giving thanks and Thanksgiving weather forecast.

Naturally, Scottsdale and Gilbert excelled in the weather forecast category despite the Valley expecting rain on the holiday for the first time in a decade. Scottsdale was ranked No. 6 and Gilbert ranked No. 4 for weather.

Both cities also ranked well in the giving thanks category, which took into account factors including volunteer opportunities and hours per capita, charities per capita and share of income donated to charity. Scottsdale came in at No. 11 and Gilbert came in at No. 2, trailing Seattle.

Denver, Orlando and Virginia Beach, Virginia, rounded out the top 5 best places to go to for Thanksgiving.

Phoenix (No. 39), Tucson (No. 48) and Glendale (No. 51) were the other Arizona cities that made the list.
