Saturday’s 115 degree day in Phoenix sets a new record

PHOENIX — Saturday is now the second day in a row there has been a record-high temperature in Phoenix. A reported 113 degree temperature at Sky Harbor broke the old record of 112 degrees in 1992 for Aug. 15 around 2:45 p.m.

That was then topped by a reported high of 115 degrees an hour later.

Around 8:30 local time it reached 100 degrees in Phoenix on Saturday.

This follows Friday’s astonishing 117 degree day, which was the hottest day of 2015 and of all-time for Aug. 14 in Phoenix.

The Phoenix area is under an excessive heat warning throughout the weekend, with temperatures reaching as high as 115 degrees through until Sunday.

South-central and Northwest Pinal County, the greater Phoenix area, Coolidge and Casa Grande will be the most heavily affected. The warning also covers Southwest Arizona, including Yuma, Parker, Quartzsite, El Centro, Imperial and Blythe, the Lower Colorado River Valley, and southeast California.
