SAFE Alert issued for 85-year-old man last seen in Phoenix

Authorities issued a SAFE Alert on Saturday for a missing 85-year-old man last seen in Phoenix.

Julio Nieves-Hernandez was last seen Saturday in the area of North 35th Avenue and West Lynwood Street driving a silver 2011 Honda CRV with the Arizona license plate FLA3TP.

Nieves-Hernandez is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet, 5 inches tall, and 180 pounds, with gray/white hair and brown eyes. He is wearing a gray checkered shirt and dark colored pants.

He suffers from a medical condition which may cause him to become confused and easily lost.

Anybody with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Phoenix Police Department Missing Persons Unit at 602-534-2121 or email the detective in charge of the case at daniel.nonnemacher@phoenix.gov.

SAFE Alerts have replaced Silver Alerts in Arizona as a way to spread the word about missing persons who are 65 and older and missing persons who have dementia or developmental/cognitive disabilities.
