SAFE Alert canceled after 71-year-old man located

A SAFE Alert for a 71-year-old man last seen in Gilbert on Saturday night was canceled on Sunday, one day after it was issued.

Police located Susano Hernandez safely Sunday morning, and he has been returned home.

When the alert was issued, authorities said that he has a medical condition that can cause him to become easily lost or confused.

SAFE Alerts have replaced Silver Alerts in Arizona as a way to spread the word about missing persons who are 65 and older and missing persons who have dementia or developmental or cognitive disabilities.
