SAFE Alert out of Phoenix canceled after subject found in good health

Authorities canceled a SAFE Alert for a missing Phoenix man Wednesday after the subject was found in good health.

Elige Douglas Sluss, 71, had last been seen near 21st Avenue and Bethany Home Road about 5 p.m. Tuesday when the alert was issued later that night.

Sluss is described 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 140 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes.

Authorities said he suffers from a medical condition that can cause him to appear confused or become lost easily.

SAFE Alerts have replaced Silver Alerts in Arizona as a way to spread the word about missing persons who are 65 and older and missing persons who have dementia or developmental or cognitive disabilities.
