PHOENIX — It won’t be taco Tuesday but taco Saturday when a Valley festival returns to Chandler next month for its 10th annual event.

The Rockin’ Taco Street Fest will take place Sept. 25 from noon to 9 p.m. at Dr. A.J. Chandler Park, located at 178 E. Commonwealth Ave.

More than 20 local restaurants and food trucks will be at the festival including Tapas AL Gusto, Los Sombreros and Salsa Bites, according to a press release on Monday.

The restaurants will offer varying styles from classic Mexican cooking to modern and southwest spins, according to the official website, with options including chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, veggie, dessert and more.

Each booth will also have at least one taco priced at $2, according to the website.

Other amenities at the festival include live music, eating competitions, a mechanical Rockin’ Taco ride and Lucha Libre wrestling matches.

Presale tickets are available online for $12, $20 at the door, while kids 12 and under are free.

The event started in a Chandler parking lot at Gilbert and Germann roads in 2011 as 200 people attended an event for guests of the now-closed El Palacio Restaurant and Cantina of Chandler, according to the website.

It became the Rockin’ Taco Street Fest three years later and moved to Chandler Park before its fifth year.

We want to hear from you.
