Suspect indicted for Phoenix road rage shooting that left 2 dead, including 8-year-old girl

PHOENIX – A man who was arrested in connection with a deadly road rage shooting in Phoenix last month has been indicted on multiple felony charges, including first-degree murder, authorities announced Monday.

Tyrone Chilly, 28, is accused of shooting into an SUV carrying two adults and three children in a Lowe’s parking lot near 19th Avenue and Baseline Road on the afternoon of Nov. 22.

Quincy Polk, 30, and his 8-year-old daughter were killed in the shooting, while a woman and a 5-year-old girl were wounded. A 1-year-old child in the SUV was unharmed.

What led up to deadly road rage shooting in Phoenix?

Chilly allegedly was involved in a fight with Polk and the woman, whose name was not released, before pulling out a gun and firing after they’d returned to their vehicle, according to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

The woman also was armed and shot back, but Chilly wasn’t hit.

Chilly was detained by the Phoenix Police Department and hospitalized for unrelated health issues before he was booked into the Lower Buckeye Jail.

A grand jury indicted Chilly last week on the following charges:

• First-degree murder, a class 1 dangerous felony.
• First-degree murder, a class 1 dangerous felony and dangerous crime against children.
• Attempt to commit second-degree murder, a class 2 dangerous felony.
• Aggravated assault, a class 2 dangerous felony and dangerous crime against children.
• Aggravated assault, a class 3 dangerous felony.
• Three counts of endangerment, a class 6 dangerous felony.

Chilly is being held on a $3 million cash bond. His arraignment hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
