Study: Queen Creek ranked as nation’s 3rd-biggest boomtown

PHOENIX — Queen Creek was ranked the nation’s third-biggest boomtown in a recent study, which compared U.S. cities that experienced the most “positive economic activity” and “population growth” between 2015 and 2023.

The findings from GOBankingRates revealed that Queen Creek saw its income per capita grow by 65.7% (up to $50,866) and population grow by 120.2% (up to 66,369).

The East Valley suburb showed the greatest population increase of those ranked in the top 38, as only the 39th-biggest boomtown in Fort Mill, South Carolina, edged it out at 125.8% growth.

Queen Creek was the only Arizona town to be featured in the study.

Auburn, Alabama, and Fairbanks, Alaska, were the top-two rated American cities, while Bentonville, Arkansas, and Lathrop, California, rounded out the top five.

GOBankingRates looked at cities that had populations ranging from 25,000 and 500,000 based on 2015 and 2023 U.S. Census American Community Survey data.

Of the 49 listed cities, 13 saw their populations increase by more than 50%.
