Protesters return to downtown Phoenix for 14th consecutive day

PHOENIX — Protesters returned to downtown Phoenix Wednesday, marking two continuous weeks of daily protests.

Local organizers have been leading protests against police brutality and racial inequality in Phoenix and across the Valley in the wake of George Floyd’s in-custody death in Minnesota.

George Floyd’s brother, Philonise Floyd, spoke to Congress on Wednesday as lawmakers consider a sweeping law enforcement overhaul.

Philonise Floyd asked lawmakers to make sure his brother isn’t “another name” on the list of those who have been killed during interactions with police.

Since May 31, Phoenix police have made zero arrests in connection with downtown area demonstrations

Wednesday’s protest drew to an end near City Hall around 8 p.m.

About 200 protesters headed to downtown Phoenix for the protests, according to KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Peter Samore.

Protesters began to gather at City Hall for the 14th consecutive day of protests in downtown Phoenix.

12:53 p.m.

The W.E. Rising Project announced Wednesday’s protest would start at City Hall in downtown Phoenix. According to the organizers, the protest would be over by 8 p.m., even though the state’s curfew expired on Monday.
