Police find woman’s dead body in north Phoenix alley, detectives pursuing leads

PHOENIX — Police found a woman’s dead body in a north Phoenix alleyway on Sunday morning and are pursuing leads for what happened, authorities said.

Officers responded to the area of 30th and Palmaire avenues around 6:30 a.m. after receiving a call that a dead body was in a “residential alleyway,” according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The woman, who was later identified as 48-year-old Nicole Lugo, had signs of injuries.

After detectives arrived at the scene, they began talking to those in the surrounding neighborhood and seeking out leads, authorities said.

Detectives are awaiting findings from an autopsy by the Office of the Medical Examiner.
