Phoenix police respond to double shooting; 1 dead, 1 in critical condition

PHOENIX — Police are investigating a double shooting in Phoenix where one man was killed and another left in critical condition, authorities said Sunday morning.

The Phoenix Police Department responded to a report of a shooting near Van Buren and 44th streets around 5 a.m. and found two adult men with gunshot wounds.

Witnesses told police they heard yelling and an argument before the shooting, according to Sgt. Andy Williams in a press release.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, the release said.

Police restricted the area to continue the investigation.

No identities or additional information was made available.
