PHOENIX — One day after U.S. Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) announced she will run for Senate in an attempt to unseat Sen. Jeff Flake, a radio host announced his bid for the congresswoman’s seat.

Seth Leibsohn, a Phoenix native who is currently the radio host for 960 The Patriot, announced Friday that he will run for Arizona’s 9th Congressional District, which is currently held by Sinema.

In a press release, Leibsohn said he has “dedicated my professional and personal life toward better and more positive social outcomes for our nation’s youth” for 20 years and is now “honored and excited” to represent “the district I grew up in.”

“I promise an effort everyone who joins will be proud of and look forward to this most important of campaigns,” part of the statement read.

Leibsohn’s campaign chair Debbie Moak said in a statement that she is a long-time friend of the candidate’s and can “attest to his character and integrity which will make him the most committed candidate for CD9. It is my honor to serve as his campaign chair.”

In a separate tweet, Moak said she will be “working to support my friend and community champion of all things good, seth [sic] Leibsohn for CD9 congressional seat!”

Arizona political strategist Sean Noble said in a statement that Leibsohn’s “experience and commitment to common-sense conservative values makes him the ideal candidate in CD9.”

Sinema announced her Senate campaign on Thursday, ending months of speculation over her potential candidacy. In a YouTube video, Sinema talked about the years her family spent homeless and echoed her frequent calls for bipartisan solutions.
