Phoenix man sentenced to 25 years in prison for armed bank robberies

PHOENIX — A Phoenix man was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Thursday after being convicted of three counts of armed bank robbery, authorities said.

Carlos Lewis, 41, along with his co-conspirators, robbed three banks at gunpoint in late 2019, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Arizona said in a press release.

While Lewis’ co-conspirators pointed a gun at bank employees and customers, he would jump the bank teller counters and take cash from the teller drawers, according to the release.

In total, they took more than $80,000.

Following his prison sentence, Lewis also received five years of supervised release.

he FBI; and Peoria, Surprise and Phoenix police departments investigated the case.
