Phoenix gets first measurable rain in almost 2 months

PHOENIX — It wasn’t much, but Phoenix recorded its first measurable rain in almost two months on Tuesday.

The city got .01 inches of rain, ending a 45-day streak of no precipitation.

The Valley is still far below its average rainfall as temperatures start to heat up.

Since April 26 of last year, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport has measured 2.5 inches of rain. The normal during that time is about 8 inches.

Phoenix was rewarded with a high temperature of 74 degrees on Tuesday, almost 30 degrees cooler than the forecast high of 102 degrees on Saturday.

Parts of northern Arizona, mostly around Flagstaff, saw snowfall Tuesday morning.

The Flagstaff Airport received four inches of snow, while Kachina Village got 2 1/2 inches and Bellemont got 2.3 inches.

Some wet snow was also reported at Grand Canyon National Park.
