Peoria City Hall renovation project starting in August, parking restrictions in place

PHOENIX — Peoria City Hall will be undergoing renovations beginning in mid-August, and to prepare, fencing has been put up in the surrounding area.

The front lawn and city council chamber will be upgraded in this renovation, with an expected completion date of spring 2026, according to a press release.

Because of these renovation plans, the next Peoria City Council meeting on Aug. 5 will be at a temporary location: the second floor of the Peoria Public Safety Administration Building. It will start at 6 p.m. and a meeting agenda will be available online at least 24 hours beforehand.

All public parking around Peoria City Hall has been moved to the Peoria Municipal East Parking Garage or the “short-term” lot just east of city hall.

Access into the city hall building has also been restricted. The public can enter through the southeast door from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday through Thursday. There will be signs inside at the front desk that guide the public to different areas in the building.

City residents approved transformation of the hall entrance last October with 60% of 224 participants voting for it.
