Pedestrian dead after being struck by car in north Phoenix

A 39-year-old man is dead after being hit by a car in north Phoenix early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Officers and firefighters were called to the area of 35th Avenue and Deer Valley Road just after 4 a.m. for reports of a vehicle-pedestrian collision resulting in injuries, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene.

Preliminary information indicated that the man was struck by the car while crossing Deer Valley Road mid-block.

Neither speed nor impairment are believed to be factors in the fatal north Phoenix collision.

Authorities did not provide the man’s identity.

The investigation is ongoing.
