PHOENIX — Phoenix police detained an individual after a standoff included “negotiating with an armed man” and a warning to residents in the area on Saturday.
Residents were asked to avoid an area of 83rd Avenue and Indian School Road due to police negotiations with the individual, according to a Phoenix Police Department social media post.
Officers are negotiating with an armed man in the area of 83rd Ave. and Indian School Road.

About an hour and a half later at 11:11 a.m., police updated the situation to say the individual was detained and medical assistance was provided. Involved officers were sent back into regular service.
