More rain expected to drench metro Phoenix on Friday

PHOENIX — A wet week will likely get wetter in metro Phoenix on Friday as a storm is expected to roll in from California and bring rain.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a 70% chance of rain Friday after 11 a.m. with up to a half inch possibly hitting the ground in Phoenix.

The high temperature is expected to top out at 63 degrees with a low of 43 degrees.

“We’re expecting another good chance for rain and mountain snow tomorrow,” Marvin Percha, a meteorologist for National Weather Service in Phoenix, told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Thursday.

Unlike the storms from earlier this week, don’t expect this one to stick around long.

Percha said the storm is weakening as it quickly makes its way from central California.

“This system moving in tomorrow is moving rather rapidly,” Percha said. “We’re expecting a rapid clearing and drying trend by tomorrow night.”

So far this week, the Valley has received 0.45 inches of rain at its official measuring station at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.

Hail, high winds and snow were also recorded in some outlying areas of Maricopa County earlier this week.
