Above-normal temperatures continue to be of concern for firefighters battling the Mistake Fire 11 miles east of Punkin Center, Arizona.
Smoke is expected to be visible throughout the rest of the weekend due to the pinyon, juniper, oak brush, and chaparral vegetation which is dried out due to heat and no rain is expected.
Firefighters are preparing to hold the fire at Oak Creek on the western boundary, as well as at Forest Road 236-A on the eastern side.
On the northern side Forest Road 609 is being prepared for a possible burn-out.
The fire has forced the closure of Forest Road 236-A, which prohibits entry into the Mistake Peak area.
The fire is progressing north in the direction of Bear Head Mountain.
This road closure affects current bear hunting activities in the area, and will potentially affect archery deer hunting which begins Wednesday.
As the fire progresses, more road closures are anticipated.
