Woman matching description of missing person found dead in Phoenix

A woman matching the description of a missing person was found dead in Phoenix on Thursday, authorities said.

There were no signs of foul play, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officers responded to a home near 16th and Bowker streets, between Roeser Road and Southern Avenue, about 3:45 p.m. to look into reports of a missing 60-year-old woman.

Family members were concerned because the woman had not returned home. Police learned she took medication for existing health issues.

Officers started searching near 31st Avenue and Durango Road, where the subject had recently been seen.

A separate call then came in about woman who was found unresponsive behind an electrical box near 27th Avenue and Durango Street, about a half-mile from the area where the search began.

Authorities responded to that scene and pronounced the woman dead. Police said she matched the description of the missing person.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine the subject’s cause of death.
