Police investigating after Phoenix resident finds body in their yard

An investigation is underway after a Phoenix resident called police to report a body in their yard on Monday morning, authorities said.

Officers responded to the report of a dead person in the area of Seventh Street and Alta Vista Road at 9:45 a.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The identity of the dead person has not been made public. Police said their remains are in the custody of the Maricopa County Medical Examiner, which is currently trying to determine what caused their death.
