Mesa mother arrested after 16-year-old son shot in the neck
A 42-year-old Mesa mother named Shamonica Cannon was arrested after allegedly shooting her 16-year-old son, according to police.

PHOENIX — A Mesa mother has been arrested after allegedly shooting her 16-year-old son on Sunday night, police said.
Prior to the shooting, 42-year-old Shamonica Cannon entered an apartment near Southern Avenue and Dobson Road with a gun in her hand, according to the Mesa Police Department.
What led up to shooting between Mesa mother and her 16-year-old son?
Her 15- and 16-year-old children tried to take the gun away from her, police said. The gun discharged during the struggle between the three, injuring her son.
The son was brought to a hospital for treatment for the gunshot wound to the neck.
Police said his injury was non-life-threatening.
They described him as conscious and alert in a Monday morning news release.
Cannon was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, endangerment and discharging a firearm within city limits.
