Arizona lottery players win $2M in Mega Millions, hit Fantasy 5 jackpot

PHOENIX — Arizona lottery players have had an unusually lucky streak, with one player winning a $2 Mega Millions prize and another hitting the Fantasy 5 jackpot on back-to-back nights.

The biggest pot of winnings announced this weekend went to a lottery player in White Hills, an unincorporated community in Mohave County, around 13 miles northwest of Dolan Springs, according to a Monday press release from lottery officials.

A ticket bought at a Carioco 93 matched the numbers for a $2 million Mega Millions win in Friday’s drawing.

Friday’s winning Mega Millions numbers were 8, 19, 26, 38, 42 and Mega Ball number 24.

The ticket sold in White Hills matched the five white numbers but missed the gold Mega Ball, which would have resulted in a $496 jackpot.

Mega Millions is a multistate game of chance with drawings on Tuesday and Friday nights. Tickets cost $5 each and can be purchased at more than 3,500 locations statewide. They each have a randomly generated multiplier of two, three, four, five or 10 times.

The next Mega Millions drawing, offering a $533 million jackpot, is on Tuesday night.

What about the Fantasy 5 jackpot?

Meanwhile, a ticket bought at a QuikTrip in Peoria near Thunderbird Road and Rio Vista Boulevard matched all the numbers for the $62,000 Fantasy 5 jackpot in Saturday’s drawing.

The winning numbers were 5, 15, 25, 35 and 36.

It marked the second time in a week’s span this game proved fortuitous for Arizona Lottery players.

On Feb. 27, a Fantasy 5 ticket sold at a Fry’s Food Store earned a $330,000 jackpot.

Fantasy 5 is a daily $1 game available at more than 3,000 Arizona Lottery retailers statewide. The odds of winning the jackpot are about 1 in 750,000.

The next Fantasy 5 drawing is Monday night, with an estimated jackpot of $51,000.

Winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes.
