Maricopa County residents can now get early access to local campsite reservations

PHOENIX — Maricopa County residents can now reserve their spots at local campsites up to two weeks before those who live outside of the county.

Reservations will still be open to anyone six months in advance at any of the 453 Maricopa County Parks and Recreation campsites. However, locals can now get priority access as part of a policy adopted in response to the results of a survey conducted last fall.

“Our parks are a valued community resource, and this change reflects our commitment to serving the residents who call Maricopa County home,” Maricopa County Supervisor Debbie Lesko said in a press release. “We’re proud to continue welcoming visitors from across the country while also creating earlier access for those who live here.”

Maricopa County Parks and Recreation campsites are located at the following parks:

• Lake Pleasant Regional Park (173 sites)
• McDowell Mountain Regional Park (92)
• Usery Mountain Regional Park (73)
• White Tank Mountain Regional Park (60)
• Cave Creek Regional Park (55).

An outdoor fire ban went into effect Friday across all of these recreation areas and will last through Sept. 3.
