PHOENIX — Police arrested a man suspected of stalking his ex-wife and breaking windows using a slingshot at a luxury condominium complex in Old Town Scottsdale.
Jaime Rodriguez, 44, was arrested after a months-long investigation involving surveillance techniques, the Scottsdale Police Department said on Thursday.
Rodriguez allegedly used a slingshot to shoot rocks at a condo near 75th Street and Stetson Drive, and he broke multiple windows over the span of several occasions.
Authorities said significant property damage amounting to approximately $100,000 occurred and residents reported hearing impacts against the windows. The rocks appeared to be shot at the person Rodriguez’s ex-wife was dating, authorities said.
Rodriguez also called his ex-wife’s bank more than 1,700 times, as he allegedly was attempting to get information about her finances and location. The ex-wife also reported finding an Apple AirTag tracking device hidden under the hood of her car in a separate case, authorities said.
Rodriguez was initially booked into the Maricopa County jail on Feb. 14 on multiple counts of criminal damage and endangerment. On Tuesday, he was arrested again on multiple counts of stalking.
