Man found dead along the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park

PHOENIX – A man was found dead along the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park on Saturday, authorities announced.

At around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, authorities responded to a call reporting a fatality at Poncho’s Kitchen, located along the Colorado River.

After arriving, park rangers found the body of 59-year-old Patrick Horton of Salida, Colorado. Authorities said Horton was originally found dead by people who were also on a non-commercial river trip with him. Horton was found on the 10th day of the trip.

The National Park Service and Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office’s investigation remains ongoing.
