A man is dead after a shooting involving deputies with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) in Mesa on Sunday night, authorities said.

PHOENIX — A man is dead after a shooting involving deputies with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office in Mesa on Sunday night, authorities said.
MCSO deputies responded to a call just before 9 p.m. regarding a man reportedly making suicidal statements at an apartment complex near Broadway and Crismon roads.
When deputies arrived on scene, they made contact with a male resident in his 40s.
What led to the shooting involving deputies with MCSO?
The man was reportedly armed with a knife.
Deputies instructed the man to drop the knife; however, the suspect continued to advance toward them.
MCSO said when the man failed to comply and became an imminent threat, deputies fired their service weapons and struck the man.
Deputies immediately initiated life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead on the scene.
MCSO detectives are investigating the incident.
