LEGOLAND Discovery Center Arizona sets car building speed record

PHOENIX — LEGOLAND Discovery Center Arizona set a new world record for the most LEGO racecars raced in three minutes.

The record was shattered Thursday morning in Tempe at the Arizona Mills mall, as members of the Creative Crew worked together to race 375 LEGO cars down a ramp.

In total, 260 cars composed of 3,000 LEGO bricks and 1,000 LEGO tire pieces were built by the group in 45 minutes.

The record-breaking attempt was held to celebrate the center’s “Build the Thrill Event,” taking place until April 27.

At the event, builders are able to create their own minifigure driver and racecar before taking their creation to the track.

Playmakers and Master Model Builder Delanie Penndragon will be at the event to help provide useful tips and tricks. 

Admission for the “Build the Thrill” event is included with the price of a regular ticket. Tickets start at $22.99 and can be purchased online.
