3 hospitalized after boat crashes, flips on Lake Havasu

Three people were hospitalized on Friday after a boat they were riding in crashed and flipped on Lake Havasu, authorities said.

PHOENIX — Three people were hospitalized after a boat they were riding in crashed and flipped on Lake Havasu last week, authorities said.

The single-vessel crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Friday at the mouth of the Colorado River on the north side of the lake, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

One of the people in the boat was seriously injured, while the other two received minor injuries, the sheriff’s office added.

Details of boat crash on Lake Havasu

MCSO deputies and a fireboat from the San Bernardino County (California) Fire Department responded to the scene and found that the boat’s three occupants had been pulled from the river by good Samaritans.

The overturned boat was found nearby and was resting in about 5 feet of water, MCSO said.

The sheriff’s office determined that the boat had hit a sandbar, flipped and ejected all three occupants.

The victims were taken by boat to Lake Havasu State Park and then taken to the Havasu Regional Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
