Mercury’s playoff success forces Jonas Brothers to reschedule Phoenix concert

PHOENIX – The Phoenix Mercury’s playoff success has forced the Jonas Brothers to reschedule their upcoming concert at the WNBA team’s home arena.

The concert, which was booked in March, was originally scheduled to take place Sunday night at PHX Arena.

But with the downtown venue suddenly unavailable that night, the “Jonas20: Living the Dream Tour” stop was moved to Monday, an open date on the musical siblings’ schedule. Power pop band Boys Like Girls will open the show.

All previously purchased tickets are good for the new night, and a limited number of seats remain available through Ticketmaster.

Why did Jonas Brothers abruptly reschedule Phoenix concert?

The arena conflict became a distinct possibility after the Mercury ousted the defending champion New York Liberty last week in the first round of the WNBA playoffs.

That set up a semifinal matchup with the Minnesota Lynx, the team with the league’s best record during the regular season.

Game 4 of the five-game semifinal series was scheduled for Sunday in Phoenix, the same day as the Jonas Brothers concert.

However, that game wasn’t guaranteed to happen until Tuesday night. That’s when the Mercury stormed back from a 20-point deficit in Minneapolis to defeat the Lynx 89-83 in overtime, tying the series at 1-1 and ensuring it will take at least four games to conclude the series.

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday night in Phoenix. If necessary, Game 5 will be played in Minneapolis on Tuesday.
