Investigation underway after inmate discovered missing from federal prison in Tucson

Authorities are looking for an inmate who escaped a federal prison in Tucson on Wednesday morning.

James Cangro, 46, was discovered missing from a minimum-security satellite campus that is adjacent to United States Penitentiary Tucson around 8:10 a.m., according to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

Cangro is described as a white male, who is 5-foot-11, weighs around 200 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.

The United States Marshals Service, the FBI and other law enforcement agencies were notified about his disappearance, and an internal investigation was initiated.

Cangro received a 132-month sentence in New Mexico for being a violent felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of body armor, possession of an unregistered firearm, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute 50 grams of a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine.
