House under renovation in Phoenix near South Mountain catches fire

PHOENIX – Firefighters in Phoenix battled a blaze in a large home undergoing renovation late Tuesday, first responders said.

There were no injuries. The home near 19th Avenue and Dobbins Road has been vacant during the remodeling, neighbors told the Phoenix Fire Department.

When crews reached the site near South Mountain in the 9 o’clock hour, the house was aflame. Firefighters surrounded the structure and began their defensive work.

Multiple firefighters stayed overnight to take care of hotspots.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the blaze.
