Phoenix officer injured in overnight hit-and-run collision with DUI suspect

A Phoenix officer was injured early Friday in a hit-and-run collision involving a driver suspected of being impaired.

PHOENIX – A Phoenix officer was injured early Friday in a hit-and-run collision involving a driver suspected of being impaired, authorities said.

The officer was on patrol in the area of Seventh Avenue and Indian School Road just before 1 a.m. when the crash occurred, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The officer was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The other driver left the area after the collision, police said.

However, other officers responded to the scene and were able to find the woman.

She was taken to custody without incident, processed for DUI and will be booked into jail, police said.

No other details about the hit-and-run collision were immediately available.
