Hiker hospitalized after being rescued from Camelback Mountain in Phoenix

PHOENIX — A hiker was hospitalized after being rescued from Camelback Mountain in Phoenix on Saturday.

According to the Phoenix Fire Department, rescue crews responded to a call at Echo Canyon Trail around 2 p.m. for reports of a female hiker with a leg injury. 

Upon arrival, crews were able to make their way to the hiker. They used a rope system and a big-wheel operation, a stretcher mounted on a single large all-terrain vehicle, as part of the rescue to safely remove the woman from the trail. 

She was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

All rescue crew members made it safely off the mountain.

Phoenix fire said the woman’s rescue was one of three rescues on Camelback Mountain on Saturday.

No other details about the woman or the other rescues were made available.
