Hampton Inn being built in downtown Carefree near sundial

PHOENIX – A new hotel is on its way to the Northeast Valley.

Developers held a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday for a Hampton Inn in downtown Carefree, according to the town’s Facebook page.

The 97-room hotel is expected to open in late 2020 near the town’s landmark sundial.

Plans call for a pool and spa, meeting rooms, a fitness center and breakfast and bar seating.

Scottsdale’s ProFab Construction is the contractor for the project, and Nebraska-based CFM Realty is the developer.

Mayor Les Peterson took part in the ceremony along with representatives from the companies involved.
