Phoenix gets treat of ideal Halloween weather to close out scary hot October

PHOENIX – Local trick-or-treaters can expect ideal Halloween weather as Phoenix’s hottest October ever ends with a fitting chill in the air.

The Phoenix forecast calls for highs in the upper 70s on Thursday, about 5 degrees below normal, with clear skies and calm winds. The temperature is expected to peak after 3 p.m. before steadily falling and dropping into the 60s by the 8 o’clock hour.

Those partying late in the Valley should prepare for Halloween weather in the lower 60s after 10 p.m. and upper 50s after 1 a.m.

Nice Halloween weather caps record hot month

The last few days of October are providing a welcome relief from what’s been a scary hot fall in the Valley.

In the same year Phoenix saw its hottest June and September on record, the city easily secured the heat mark for October before the last day of the month.

Arizona’s capital city experienced record highs every day for the first two weeks of the month, and temperatures returned to record levels just last weekend.

“We will likely end up around 84-and-a-half degrees for an average [October] temperature in Phoenix,” Chris Kuhlman of the National Weather Service told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Thursday morning. “And that would break the previous record of the 82.7 degrees, which was set in 2003.”
