Arizona man sentenced to 4 years in prison for conspiring to distribute fentanyl

A Globe man was sentenced by a federal judge to four years in prison for conspiring to distribute fentanyl, officials said.

Prison time for 55-year-old James Morris Wilckens will be followed by three years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.

In June 2024, Wilckens was discovered to be in possession of 230 fentanyl pills packaged for sale and arrested near Claypool, a census-designated community west of Globe.

He was also identified as a member of a cross-border smuggling ring engaged in the distribution of fentanyl during a Homeland Security Task Force investigation.

HSTF is a whole-of-government partnership that is devoted to eliminating criminal cartels, transnational criminal organizations, foreign gangs as well as human smuggling and trafficking rings operating in the country and internationally.
