Gilbert police ask for public’s help identifying stabbing suspect

PHOENIX — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect in a stabbing that occurred in Gilbert last week.

According to the Gilbert Police Department, officers responded to an unknown trouble call at a residence near Vaughn Avenue and Elm Street just after noon on Saturday, March 14.

The female caller told police that a man had allegedly grabbed her and forced his way into her home after he knocked on the door and she opened it.

After pushing his way in, the woman called for her husband and the unknown man fled. The couple followed and a short distance away from the house the man stabbed the husband in the lower abdomen with a knife before fleeing through the downtown Gilbert area, police said.

Authorities noted that neither the husband nor the wife sustained any critical injuries during the incident.

Surveillance video showed the suspect wearing a white shirt, gray shorts and white tennis shoes. Police also believe the man was wearing prescription glasses.
