PHOENIX — An award-winning flight school announced it has opened a new location at Chandler Municipal Airport.
Sierra Charlie Aviation, which was founded out of the Scottsdale Airport in 2016, is starting with a handful of airplanes at the Chandler airport with a plan to add more throughout the summer.
“We are thrilled Sierra Charlie Aviation chose Chandler Municipal Airport to expand their flight training center,” Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke said in a press release. “Their use of the latest technology and state-of-the-art aircraft to educate our future pilots makes a natural fit in our community of innovation.
“We eagerly welcome them to the Chandler airport community.”
The new office is located at 2270 S. Airport Blvd., Suite 5, but the school plans to add more office space in the future as part of a commitment to long-term growth at the Chandler location.
Accomplished and passionate instructors teach students in flight training programs to be safe, skilled and well-rounded aviators using its fleet comprised of 13 Cessna 172s, according to the release.
The 2020 Cessna Skyhawks are equipped with the Garmin G1000 NXi avionics suite, the release said, allowing students to transition to more complex aircraft with ease since the flight deck technology matches the capabilities of modern airliners.
Sierra Charlie Aviation has been recognized by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) for excellence in flight training every year since opening, with the organization naming the school as the best in the Western Pacific region in 2019, according to the release.
