Five Arizona schools awarded blue ribbon honors

PHOENIX – Five Arizona schools were recently named as National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education.
The highly touted blue ribbon acknowledges the diligent work of teachers and communities that create a safe learning environment where students learn and comprehend challenging content.
The recognition was given to the Alhambra Traditional School in Phoenix, Arizona College Prep Erie Campus in Chandler, Ash Fork Elementary School, Kyrene de la Sierra Elementary School in Phoenix and the Montessori Education Centre Charter School in Mesa.
The schools will be honored Nov. 14-15 in Washington, D.C.
Kathy Hoffman, the Arizona superintendent of public instruction stated in a press release that, “this is a wonderful accomplishment for these five schools…a commitment to high academic standards and a focus on closing achievement gaps is vital to the success of all students.”
