Fire in Mesa shuts down portion of Country Club Drive on Saturday

PHOENIX — A large fire in Mesa shut down a portion of Country Club Drive on Saturday morning, authorities said.

Country Club Drive was closed from 6th Avenue to 10th Avenue just before 8:30 a.m., according to the Mesa Police Department.

Mesa firefighters are working to put out a large fire right now near Country Club and 8th Avenue.

The blaze also resulted in both directions of 8th Avenue being shut down in the area and restricting access to Country Club Drive.

Drivers were advised to use Alma School Road or Center Street for north and south travel and Broadway Road or Southern Avenue for east and west.

The blaze was at a public storage building and it was expected firefighters would be working the fire for multiple hours, authorities said.

There were no reports of injuries and the cause of the fire was unknown, authorities said.

No additional information was immediately available.
